II. Client's Background & Challenges
Background: In the Kainji Hydropower Station Unit Expansion and Rehabilitation Project, after long-term high-load operation, the underwater part of the spillway of this key hydropower station was found to have structural damage and concrete erosion, which seriously threatened the overall safety of the dam and the stable operation of the power station. The repair window is extremely short, and time is pressing.
Challenges:
High technical difficulty: Repairs need to be carried out underwater or in humid environments, which have extremely high requirements for repair materials and technical schemes.
Complex environment: The local climate is hot, the on-site conditions are harsh, and it is necessary to ensure that the power station is constructed without shutdown or with minimal shutdown.
Time constraints: Key repair works must be completed before the flood season, resulting in huge project schedule pressure.

III. Our Solution
Invited by our partner, East China Engineering Science and Technology Co., Ltd., our company was fortunate to participate in this project. Precise survey: The team used advanced underwater camera and survey technology to accurately locate and assess the scope and degree of damage.
Customized design: Based on the survey data, our team quickly designed a repair scheme using high-performance underwater non-dispersible concrete (NDC) and special composite mortar. This scheme has the characteristics of rapid hardening, high strength, and erosion resistance, perfectly adapting to the on-site working conditions.
Process innovation: An innovative formwork support and pouring process was adopted to ensure the forming quality of the repaired body under complex water flow conditions.
